Ted Williams' entire life has been a persuit of perfection. As
teammate Charlie Wagner put it, "Anything he attempted, he
wanted to be the best."
Ted chose difficult realms in which to seek perfection. His odyssey
was of epic proportions--on land, on sea, and in the air.
He is the last man to hit .400 and he accomplished it without
sacrificing power.
Ted is also honored in three fishing halls of fame as one of
the greatest sport fisherman ever.
In his military service, he became so proficient a fighter bomber
pilot that he flew combat missions in Korea with John Glenn.
There is something almost otherworldly about his success in so
many fields or unrelated endeavor, leading Maureen Cronin, daughter
of legendary manager Joe Cronin, too conclude, "What he needs
in another planet."
